Program Manager

Job Description

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Program Manager will have overall  responsibility for Youth Arts: Unlocked staff, programs, and funding. They will serve as an advocate for juvenile justice by maintaining and expanding programmatic partnerships in pursuit of trauma informed service delivery.

Objectives

  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, evaluations, and financial stability, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging.
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic planning and direction.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain the Youth Arts: Unlocked Teaching Artist and Teaching Assistant team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial and contractual obligations, programming, staffing, physical space, and assets of Youth Arts: Unlocked.
  • Administer the delivery of program services by recruiting, hiring and supervising Teaching Artists, Assistants, and Interns in coordination with the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center and the Learning Co-op.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all communications including grantors, contractual partners, and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee and coordinate the budget process and financial well-being of the organization making recommendations for budget amendments and modifications as needed.
  • Coordinate the timely flow of all grants from application to conclusion including data management, tracking deadlines, preparing, and submitting all reports and invoices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with at least 3 years program management experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, a persuasive and passionate advocate with excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and financial management skills with the ability to manage staff, set and achieve strategic objectives, develop, and manage budgets.
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate strong Boards and foster positive Board member relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Arts or Juvenile Justice programming.
  • Knowledge of financial, donor and grant management software programs.
